Anne of Green Gables sells out at The Pitch - additional performance added!

Here's a little fun from the UK... The Worst Was This: by Matte O'Brien, developed with the members of Wild Goose Chase...

Bloody, messy and imaginative...the show is a slice of modern Grand Guignol silliness...Matte O’Brien’s script is tightly written in lavish iambic pentameter, full of quotes, jokes, and broken sonnets. As director, O’Brien gives his cast freedom to play with these rhythms, so the language feels richly musical but never overwrought. The performers handle the text skillfully, reveling in the show’s humour and absurdity.

The Worst Was This: will premier this November at The Hope Theatre in London!

For the past year, Matte has been collaborating with the members of Wild Goose Chase, a UK-based theatre company, on the creation of an original play inspired by the writing style of William Shakespeare. Utilizing a combination of verse and prose, the play is a bloody romp around the Bard of Avon's famous sonnets. Special guest appearances by William Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe, and a weyward sister... or three. More info to follow soon!

Here's a little info from the 54 Below site:

"Matte O’Brien and Matt Vinson are New York based music theatre writers whose eclectic style melds an emotional fusion of folk, rock, soul, and Broadway pop. For their 54 Below concert debut, Matt and Matte bring original songs from two upcoming collaborations: the pop-rock opera CAKE, and an epic-folk adaptation of L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables. The evening also features new arrangements of songs from their musical Peter & I, which previously enjoyed a sold-out Off-Broadway run at the American Theatre of Actors as part of the Araca Project. Top Broadway vocalists accompanied by a power ensemble and live folk-rock band make this a sonic experience not to be missed." For tickets, click here.
